Soy vs coconut vs paraffin — which wax?

Soy: cleanest burn, slowest scent throw, premium positioning. Coconut: creamy burn, best scent throw, mid-premium. Coconut-soy blend (most popular): balances cost + performance. Paraffin: strongest hot throw, lowest cost, but controversial for “clean” brands. We recommend coconut-soy for most DTC brands.

How do I develop a custom scent?

Two paths: (1) Pick from our 280+ stock scents library — fastest, included in base price. (2) Custom blending from essential oils + fragrance oils — $400–$1,200 per scent + 500 unit MOQ. We send blind-coded scent samples so you evaluate without brand bias.

Safety regulations for candles?

ASTM F2417 (US candle safety) and EN 15493 (EU) cover flame height, stability, secondary ignition. Our factories test to these standards. Products ship with required warning labels. For California Prop 65, we use CA-compliant fragrance ingredients by default.

Can I sell soap as “natural” / “handmade”?

Factories can produce “natural” formulations (palm-free, essential-oil-scented, mechanical rather than cold-process). “Handmade” is a regulated term in some markets — we avoid the claim if the process is mechanical. Cold-process soap (true handmade) is available at higher MOQ (1,000+).

Shipping candles — fragile concerns?

Glass candle vessels need molded-pulp or foam inserts for shipping. We include protective packaging in the unit price. Breakage rate typically <0.3%. For higher-value candles (over $40 retail), we recommend custom inserts and double-walled shipping boxes.

Subscription box format?

Yes. We pre-kit subscription boxes (3, 4, or 6 items per box) with tissue wrap, thank-you card, and outer kraft box. Fulfillment can be monthly, bi-monthly, or custom. Pricing: $0.50–$1.50 per box for kitting depending on complexity.
