Apparel Private Label FAQ

What Brand Founders Ask Before Their First Run.

What fabrics can you source?

Cotton, cotton-poly blends, performance polyester (moisture-wicking), nylon-spandex (compression), modal, bamboo viscose, recycled polyester (rPET), organic cotton, tencel. For premium fabrics (cashmere, silk, merino), we source from specialty mills in Zhejiang and Jiangsu.

How does sizing work? What’s the ratio per SKU?

Standard US/EU sizing (XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL). Default 100-unit run includes 5–15–30–30–15–5 ratio (skewed to M/L for DTC). We can customize ratios based on your customer data. Size grading follows your target market’s spec.

Can I develop my own pattern / custom fit?

Yes, at 500+ unit MOQ per SKU. Pattern development costs $300–$800 one-time. Fit iterations are usually 2–3 rounds with samples on standard fit models. For unique fits (tall, petite, plus), allow extra development time.

What branding techniques are most cost-effective?

Woven neck labels are the best ROI — $0.15–$0.40 per garment, premium feel. Hangtags $0.08–$0.25. Embroidered logos (left chest) $0.80–$1.50. Full-back screen print $1.50–$3.50. Leather patches $1.20–$2.80 (best for jackets, premium basics).

Amazon Brand Registry for apparel?

Apparel is one of the easier categories for Amazon Brand Registry. Requirements: registered trademark, your brand printed/woven/embroidered on garments (not just stickered packaging), and your logo visible on product images. Most private label clothing clients are Brand Registry-approved within 30–45 days of launch.

Sustainability certifications?

Available: GOTS (organic cotton), GRS (Global Recycled Standard for rPET), OEKO-TEX Standard 100 (no harmful substances), Bluesign (environmentally-friendly process). Each adds 10–25% to unit cost but opens premium eco-conscious segments.
